DeKalb County Hunger Relief Response
Hunger Can’t Wait: Families & Children in DeKalb County Need Us Now
Updated November 4, 2025
Families in DeKalb County are losing critical food benefits, and the need is growing quickly. Even when SNAP benefits are reinstated, the impact has already reached local resources and families. Fortify Life, and the United Way of DeKalb County, and the Community Foundation of DeKalb County came together to launch the Hunger Relief Response — not to build a new organization, but to create a shared effort that anyone can join.
This response belongs to the community.
Together, we can mobilize resources faster, communicate needs in real time, and make sure food reaches families when and where it’s needed most. Keep scrolling this page to get started.

THE BOTTOM LINE:
Many families who don’t qualify for SNAP already rely on food banks to bridge the gap between paychecks and groceries. Now, with families losing those benefits altogether, even more people will be forced to turn to the same limited resources just to survive. Even in benefits are reinstated at a portion of what they once were, without immediate action, the demand on local food banks and pantries will exceed what they can carry.
This is not a future problem — it’s happening right now. We must respond together, or families in our own community will go without food.
Join the Coalition
The Hunger Relief Coalition will bring together community members, nonprofits, churches, schools, pantries, service providers, and community members who are ready to respond in real time to rapidly changing hunger needs in DeKalb County.
Instead of working in silos, we’re sharing information, coordinating efforts, and communicating urgent needs as they arise so families can get help faster.
We don’t have a meeting date set yet, but if you’d like to be part of the first gathering and receive updates, sign up below and we’ll make sure you’re included in the invitation.
