The Laundry Room

Fresh clothes mean comfort, confidence, and a fresh start. The Laundry Room gives families a place to restore dignity in the simplest but most meaningful way. By adopting this room, you’re helping parents provide care for their children and giving everyone the gift of a clean slate.

About the Laundry Room

A laundry room can feel so small and practical, but for someone who’s been without housing, it carries deep meaning. Here are some ways it impacts people mentally, emotionally, and spiritually:

Restores Dignity + Identity

Reduces Shame + Stigma

Clean clothes ease anxiety about being judged, rejected from jobs, or excluded socially. They also remove the stigma and embarrassment tied to feeling unkempt.

Creates Routines + Rituals

Folding laundry, smelling clean clothes, and caring for personal belongings can become grounding, almost sacred practices that people lose during homelessness.

Clean clothes make someone feel human, seen, and worthy again. For someone who was homeless, being able to do their own laundry gives back a sense of order and agency.

Laundry services are provided at no cost to our neighbors. If you aren't ready to adopt a room but would like to help us support this part of our mission, consider purchasing supplies from our Amazon Needs List.
